ManyChat does a good job at what it was built for: running DM flows for creators on Instagram and Facebook, and broadcasting to a warm audience of subscribers. If what you need is a sales agent that qualifies an inbound heat-pump enquiry on WhatsApp at 9pm, you’re looking at the wrong category.

ManyChat is ‘if user says X, send Y’. Service enquiries don’t follow flowcharts — they’re messy, conditional, and context-dependent. You can’t script your way out of that.

Creator-shaped, not business-shaped

Built around Instagram DMs, broadcast to followers, giveaways, story replies. Useful for an influencer. Not useful for an MCS-certified heat-pump installer.

No vertical intelligence

We use ManyChat for Instagram. Are you saying we should switch?
No. If your sales job is ‘reply to Instagram DMs from followers with a link’, ManyChat is fine. If your sales job is ‘qualify a new-matter legal enquiry on WhatsApp and book an intake call with the right partner’, Zatio is the right tool.
Can ManyChat be made to do what Zatio does?
Not really — and we say that without malice. ManyChat is a rule-based flow-builder with an OpenAI node bolted on. That’s fundamentally not the same as an agent trained on your sector. You’d be fighting the tool.
Is Zatio cheaper?
Usually yes, at service-business scale — once you account for the time you’d spend maintaining ManyChat flows. ManyChat’s published price is lower, but the total cost (setup, ongoing flow maintenance, agency fees) tends to be higher.
We run both Instagram and WhatsApp. What do we do?
Depends on where the money is. If your paid-media funnel is all Instagram and the conversions happen in DM, stick with ManyChat. If your paid traffic lands on a website and the warm ones WhatsApp you, switch to Zatio.
